Hi out there in Webland. I have absolutely nothing to blog about. Interesting huh?
“So, what’s been happening?” I hear you avoiding asking me.
Well, I finished a book of limericks and am now hoping to find a literary agent who will be brave enough to take me, and my writing, on.
It’s hard going. My ‘system’ is to try to research as many as I can find. I’m scoring them out of 10 – according to how close a match for me and my writing they seem to be.
I am using the current “Writers and Artists Yearbook” to find most of them, then researching them on the web.
I am amazed that some of them don’t even have websites.
Anyway, it is a painfully long and slow process, but it does mean that I should end up with a list of agents to approach, which I can sort in order of the best to try first.
I really hope it works. I believe in my ability to write well, especially so when I’m writing humour. However, I am also starting to realise that I am cr…rubbish at selling myself.
I am convinced that if I can find someone to work with me, taking care of most of the ‘business’ side, that I can build a good name for myself as a comedic writer, and will make me, and my accommodating agent stacks of cash.
I only hope I can come back here soon and say “I was right!”
